French Poem Coffee Table
A good friend of mine, we will call her Lainey. It really is her name Really:) We decided to go to Goodwill & look for a fun project to work on together. We found this cool coffee table for $20. It is a really good sturdy table with some great bones. I love the swans! It was also a glass top but it was broken so we asked the good men at Goodwill to remove it. They thought we were a bit nuts but that's okay we knew that we would find another option for the top. What could we do to replace the glass top? Our solution was to go to Home Depot and have a piece of plywood cut to size that would fit ever so nicely in the niche. Once that was done we proceeded to paint the wood with Anne Sloan paint in Old White. Lainey had a beautiful french poem stencil that she had been wanting to try. We put the poem over theOld White and then aged and sealed it with clear wax and then dark wax also from Anne Sloan. We painted it Duck Egg Blue and then waxed it with more clear and dark wax. I love how this turned out, it feels so romantic to me and very, very original..

BE HAPPY
Today, I decided to clean out a craft/junk drawer. Isn't it amazing how cleaning out something like a drawer or closet can make you feel good. Nobody else knows about it or for that matter really cares about it, but something changes in you, you feel lighter, more organized, ready for new challenges. I may be stretching this a bit but for those of you who have cleaned and organized anything you know what I am talking about. It feels good:) So, while doing this I found some random things and started feeling crafty. I just washed this wine bottle the other day, and thought I might do something with it. I had some scraps of burlap & twine and you know you can make anything if you have these 2 things. lol I had these really cute flowers that I made out of the aluminum tins you get from votive candles. I am really making these flowers for some amazing summer project..check back with me soon for that! I stole one to make this cute little bottle which I decided to write BE Happy on and you know what it does make me happy:) I will tell you how I made these flowers when I post my summer project with these flowers. In the meantime I will tell you that I painted them with nail polish that I purchased from the $dollor store. Really pretty vibrant colors. Paint outside and get some fresh air when doing this or you might start to feel a bit high:) or get a really bad headache which is what happened to me.

Sweet Summer Time
The best thing about summer is BBQing and eating outdoors, enjoying the sunshine, the sweet smell of flowers and listening to the crickets chirp on the porch late at night and early in the morning. We kicked off the Memorial day weekend with a BBQ with some family & friends. Just sharing a few of my table top decorations. I love my Irises, they always bloom so beautifully and the fragrance they give off is amazing. This nest was found while my husband was trimming my Clematis vine. I literally took it and displayed it here in a pretty little blue bowl, found @ GW of course and put these adorable miniture S & P mason jars in it. How cute is that?
